Circus artists Giang Quoc Co and Giang Quoc Nghiep set a new head-to-head balancing walk record in their final international performance on Friday.

Co, 34 and Nghiep, 38 walked the 50-cm wide and 10-m long surface in 1 minute and 55 seconds in Milan, Italy, to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Hong Phuong, Co’s wife, said she normally just wanted the brothers to be safe, but this time, she wanted them to set the record.

"Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep had a brilliant career, so I think they deserve a complete ending," she said.

During training before setting the new record, the Giang brothers failed three times. At a workout session in Ho Chi Minh City on January 19, they fell while training on a simulator. One day before going to Italy, they failed again during training. The two said they were stressed after another fail on Thursday.

The Giang brothers had received the invitation to perform at the Guinness World Record Show in Milan from the event’s organizer, Banijay S.p.A Company. They had three weeks to prepare for the show.

In 2021, the Giang brothers set another world record when they climbed 100 steps in 53 seconds at the Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Girona, Spain, 10 steps more than the previous record established at the same venue in 2016.

Co started circus training when he was four, while Nghiep began at five. The two went professional in 1999. Their head-to-head balancing act got them into the top three finalists on Britain’s Got Talent in 2018.

Their incredible walk up and down a staircase in the head-to-head position was made possible by intensive training lasting six to eight hours every day for almost 20 years, the brothers told VnExpress in 2018.
