Hue authorities launched fireworks early at Ngo Mon, or the Meridian Gate, the main gate to the Imperial City.

Starting at 9 p.m., areas around Ton Duc Thang Street and the Nguyen Hue flower street banned vehicles to make room for people watching the fireworks. Thousands of people gathered at the Bach Dang Riverside Park to wait for the fireworks show.
