Vietnam’s 80th National Day military parade dress rehearsal took place Saturday morning at Ba Dinh Square in central Hanoi, drawing thousands of spectators and showcasing the nation’s military strength and spirit.

The rehearsal officially began at 6:30 a.m., with 16,300 soldiers, military vehicles, and special police forces marching through Ba Dinh Square.

Despite slight rain, the streets of Hanoi were packed with spectators from the previous night.

A dramatic moment occurred when a formation of Su-30MK2 fighter jets, known as "King Cobra," soared over Ba Dinh Square, releasing flares.

The rehearsal featured several military assets, including the SPYDER short- and medium-range air defense systems, developed by Israel, and the Truong Son anti-ship and land-attack missile systems, developed by Vietnam. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and combat vehicles like the XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle were also part of the impressive display.

After completing their parade route, the forces dispersed in eight directions, drawing enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Participants included military personnel from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia.

As the rehearsal ended after two hours, people spilled onto the streets to interact with police officers and soldiers.

The 80th National Day celebrations on Sept. 2 are set to showcase not only the might of Vietnam’s military forces but also the national unity and pride that drives the country forward.
