After the second round of the group stage concluded, the stance for the men's football at the 33rd SEA Games became clearer. The Philippines advanced as Group C winners, while Thailand are likely to top Group A. Meanwhile, defending champions Indonesia will be eliminated if the Vietnam-Malaysia match at the Rajamangala Stadium today ends in a draw.

Malaysia are leading Group B with three points, level with Vietnam, but with a better goal difference (+3 compared to +1). They are in complete control of their own destiny and are eager for a chance to reach the semi-finals, after being eliminated in the group stage last time in Cambodia.

To top the group, Vietnam must beat Malaysia. A victory would not only solidify Vietnam's position against their regional rival but also pave the way for the team to reach the semi-finals as title contenders.
