Vietnam with three points are third in group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers second round. Their chance of advancing are slim, but Indonesia's 0-2 loss against Iraq in the earlier game gave Vietnam a glimpse of hope. But to keep that hope alive, they will have to beat a Philippines with many naturalized players in the squad.

My Dinh Stadium will be an advantage for Vietnam in this game, with the support of the home fans.

This is also the debut game of Kim Sang-sik as the head coach of Vietnam, after he was appointed last month to replace Frenchman Philippe Troussier.
