Vietnam beat Philippines 2-0 in World Cup qualifiers

Nguyen Van Toan opened the score for Vietnam before Nguyen Dinh Bac settled the victory with a last-minute goal in the World Cup qualifier against hosts Philippines Thursday.

    It was an amazing solo effort by the substitution Dinh Bac in the very last minute of the game as he dribbled past two defenders before burying it into the left corner and sealed the 2-0 victory for Vietnam against Philippines. The referee blew the final whistle after the goal.

Philippines have the home advantage as they take on Vietnam at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Prior to the match, Philippine Football Federation launched a campaign to get 10,000 fans to the stadium to support the home team.

Their record against Vietnam is nine defeats, two wins and a draw.

Vietnam will have their first official match under the new coach Philippe Troussier.

Vietnam's goal is to get past the second round and meeting Philippines is a good chance for them to get their first three points in the group.
