A mistake by Thai Son created a chance for Uuganbat Batmönkh to run into the box before finishing simply to beat keeper Van Chuan.

Facing a weaker opponent, Vietnam have a chance to win and get closer to the knockout round of Asian Games men’s football.

Three points will also strengthen Vietnam's opportunity to be in the top three teams of group B with two strong opponents Saudi Arabia and Iran.

With position 183 on the FIFA ranking, Mongolia have never been highly rated in international tournaments, and Asian Games this year is only the second time they have participated since 1998.
