Vietnam secured a dramatic 2–1 win over Kyrgyzstan in their second. match at the AFC U23 Asian Cup, moving a step closer to the. quarterfinals.
Vietnam took the lead in the 19th minute when captain Khuat Van Khang converted a penalty, but a defensive mistake allowed.
Kyrgyzstan to equalize just before halftime. After a tense second half with chances at both ends, Vietnam regained the advantage in the 88th minute as a header from Van Thuan deflected off a Kyrgyz defender and went in for an own goal.
The victory gave Vietnam six points from two games and put them in a strong position to advance. Vietnam are guaranteed a quarterfinal spot if Jordan fail to beat Saudi Arabia in the group’s next match.
