Goals: Chau Ngoc Quang (11'), Nguyen Van Vi (44'), Nguyen Van Vi (50'), Nguyen Hai Long (63'), Nguyen Quang Hai (84')
The match, held with more than 11,000 fans at Go Dau Stadium in southern Vietnam, saw the hosts take control from the outset, securing the win with goals from Chau Ngoc Quang, Nguyen Van Vi, Nguyen Hai Long, and Nguyen Quang Hai.
The hosts began the match with a quick pace and were rewarded early. In the 11th minute, a cross from Truong Tien Anh was misjudged by Laos defender Sonevilay Phetviengsy, who inadvertently cleared the ball into the path of goalkeeper Lokphathip. Chau Ngoc Quang was in the right place to tap the ball into the empty net, giving Vietnam the early lead.
Vietnam continued to press and doubled their advantage in the 44th minute. A corner kick led to a powerful shot from Nguyen Hai Long that hit the crossbar, but the ball rebounded to Nguyen Van Vi, who made no mistake with a header to make it 2-0.
The second half saw Vietnam take complete control. Nguyen Van Vi extended the lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute, showcasing individual brilliance as he dribbled past several Laos defenders before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.
In the 63rd minute, Nguyen Hai Long added another to his tally, scoring with a well-placed long-range shot to make it 4-0. Just minutes later, substitute Nguyen Quang Hai sealed the victory with a textbook volley from a pass by Nguyen Hoang Duc, bringing the score to a commanding 5-0.
Despite a few promising moments, such as a long-range attempt by Damoth Thongkhamsavath in the 52nd minute, Laos struggled to create clear chances and failed to find the back of the net.
With the win, Vietnam set the tone for the upcoming matches, including one against Malaysia in June.
