A last-minute equalizer from Vietnam denied the Philippines a crucial victory on Wednesday night, further dimming their chances of advancing past the ASEAN Cup group stage.

Vietnam held the Philippines to a dramatic 1-1 draw in their ASEAN Cup group stage match. Despite dominating possession early, the Philippines didn’t create many scoring chances and only took the lead in the 68th minute with Jarvey Gayoso’s powerful strike.

After conceding, Vietnam struggled to equalize, hitting the crossbar and making numerous substitutions to refresh their attack.

In the final moments, Doan Ngoc Tan capitalized on a goalkeeper error to score a crucial header in the 97th minute.

The draw hurt the Philippines' chances of advancing to the next stage, while Vietnam remained in contention for the top spot in Group B.
