Triton Crown sits at the heart of Crescent Lake, surrounded by waterways, riverside parks and pedestrian routes.
The setting inspired Handel Architects to connect the project's architecture with the landscape.
The U.S.-based firm, with offices in New York, San Francisco, Boston and Hong Kong, has projects across North America, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, including Pier 57 in New York, Rosewood Abu Dhabi, Shangri-La at the Fort in the Philippines and Banco Santander's headquarters in Santiago.
According to Allen Cheng, director of Handel Architects' Hong Kong office, the design draws on southern Vietnam's river culture. The architects studied both the landscape and how local communities live and travel along waterways.
Water is therefore central to the design, reflected in curved forms, open spaces, layered balconies and horizontal bands wrapping around the two towers. The elements soften the buildings' mass while creating a visual transition between the architecture, Crescent Lake and the surrounding landscape.
