Vietnam made it past a tough first leg of AFF Cup semifinal at Indonesia's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in a goalless draw on Friday.

Vietnam had a challenging game with hosts Indonesia at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Friday.

After the first 10 minutes with no chances, both teams started to play more open. However, Indonesia with their immense pressure didn’t let Vietnam attack much.

On the contrary, Indonesia were sharp with the counter attacks and threatened Vietnam’s goal many times, as they exploited the positions of two defenders on the right. However, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam’s excellent didn’t let any shot through.

In the second half, Vietnam played better but still struggled to find a way through Indonesia’s defense. Meanwhile, the hosts, with the support from home fans, kept the pressure on and continued to create many dangerous chances.

The only thing they were missing was a goal. Vietnam were able to withstand the heat of Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and 50,000 spectators until the last minute, which is considered a success.

Vietnam will get to play the second leg at their home stadium My Dinh on January 9.
