“Emily Nha Uyen is a very pretty and professional girl with the mentality of a star on stage. What we like the most about Emily is her intelligence as she quickly understands the requirements of the director and designer. Many child models didn’t remember their walking pattern and it was Emily who helped them complete the performance,” said Andy Zhou, founder & chairman of Shanghai International Kids Fashion Week.

Director Hung Phuc, who directed this year’s Shanghai International Kids Fashion Week and is also Emily’s teacher, said that catwalking at fashion week for kids is not as easy as many people think.

On the runway, the models have to follow many patterns such as forming a circle, creating a U-shape or an X-shape. The child models therefore have to listen very carefully to the requirements of the director and designer then follow the correct pattern.

Emily learned catwalk at the age of four and became a student of director Phuc for more than a year, before attending several fashion shows for kids.

In January this year, Emily went viral with a catwalk video that attracted 60 million views on TikTok, when she was catwalking for a Singapore designer at the Asian Kids Fashion Week.

“She’s still a child and her personality is carefree, but during work, she’s very professional. Although she’s tired because of the busy schedule, weather, and time zone, she didn’t complain once,” director Phuc said.
