The nest of a young couple is located in HCMC's Thu Duc City with a total area of 204 square meters. The property owners desired a private living space that is separate from the outside but still allows for exposure to the sun, rain, and surrounding greenery.
The architect team decided to fit the facade with concrete bars, creating privacy while allowing natural light to enter. These bars have an isosceles trapezoidal bottom rotated at a 45-degree angle to create a slim look.
The concrete ground embodies the owners' simple aesthetic.
The vaulted structure is one of the building's highlights. The architect wished to create the most pristine space possible, so that every time the owners enter their home, they would feel as if entering a safe and quiet living space.
The skylight is installed in the center of the building, keeping the indoor air fresh and connecting people to nature. It also allows every room in the house to receive natural light, wind, and a drop of rain.
"Having the rainfall directly into the house creates the illusion that the ground floor space is like a porch," explained the lead architect.
The architect created a layer of square woven steel sheet frames with the necessary depth to limit rain in the diagonal direction and its impact on the surrounding space.
The garden is planted directly on the ground but has a drainage system to keep heavy rains at bay and the living space dry.
The house was completed in 2021 after aneight-month construction period. The owner has not disclosed the price.
The skylight provides natural rain onto the tree. The skylight runs vertically from the first to third floors, providing light and promoting adequate air circulation.
Instead of separating walls, the space from the second and higher floors is replaced with transparent glass, allowing functional rooms to enjoy the sun, wind, and even rain that falls from the skylight. Transparent glass also enables family members to observe and interact with one another.
Green plants can be found throughout the house, providing a cooling effect, reducing space heat, and ensuring aesthetics.
The working area is located in the hallway and is bright and airy, aiming to provide the owner with inspiration and creative energy.
The apartment's primary colors are white, black, and light brown.
White and black are clean and modern, while light brown adds warmth and coziness.
The living room is open to the other functional areas. Some windows go all the way up to the skylight.
