With a perfect score of 5/5 for both cleanliness and service from more than 7,000 reviews, La Siesta Classic Ma May Hotel has become one of only two representatives from Vietnam to be named among the world's top 25 hotels in 2024 by Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel platform.
This recognition is part of Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Awards, the platform's most prestigious ranking system.
The Hanoi hotel ranks 12th in the list while Grandvrio Ocean Resort Da Nang in Da Nang claims second spot.
Nha Anh, the hotel's media representative, said the hotel follows a boutique model with the goal of serving as a "companion" throughout each guest's stay.
"The difference lies in the art of understanding customers," she explained.
Staff are extensively trained to remember customers' names and anticipate individual preferences, "from their morning cup of tea to their favorite way of folding the blanket," creating a personalized experience rarely found elsewhere.
The hotel's design emphasizes privacy and coziness, making it ideal for solo travelers or small groups.
In the photo, the spa is on the same floor as many guest rooms, offering visitors maximum convenience.
The hotel offers 70 rooms, catering to the mid- to high-end segment with rates starting at VND2.5 million (US$94) per night.
Nha Anh said about 95% of its guests are foreigners.
Pictured is the 40-square-meter La Siesta Suite on the 9th floor, featuring a spacious balcony. It is the hotel's most expensive room, priced between VND5–7 million per night depending on the season.
The suite's standout feature is its spacious balcony, where guests can take in views of Hanoi's Old Quarter with its distinctive layers of tiled rooftops.
Nha Anh said the hotel's philosophy of "serving with all your heart" has helped it win over guests and secure a spot on Tripadvisor's Best of the Best list for many years since its opening in 2014.
"We strive to ensure every detail — from the aroma and cuisine to itinerary suggestions — carries the spirit of Hanoi, allowing visitors to enjoy an authentic local experience," she said.
Reflecting the Old Quarter's architectural style, the staircase from the 9th floor to the sky bar is narrow, giving guests a sense of exploration before it opens into the airy space above.
The Sky Bar offers panoramic views of the Old Quarter, with a replica of Long Bien Bridge as its highlight.
Guests can watch fireworks over Hoan Kiem Lake on special occasions.
Rafid (L), a British tourist who stayed at the hotel with his family for two nights, said he often reads reviews on Tripadvisor when traveling.
However, he chose this hotel during his stopover in Hanoi after reading an article in The Times.
"Everything was as expected, the service was great and the staff were very helpful," he said, adding that the food was delicious and there was a wide range of options.
