Traveling on Highway 20 from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat through the Di Linh Plateau, visitors can easily see the bright shade of the yellow poinciana. The massive yellow poinciana trees in Le Loi Secondary School catch the attention of everyone passing by.
The trees are planted a lot in Di Linh District, 78km from the popular tourist town Da Lat.
Their flowers bloom from the beginning of the year until the end of March. There are so many yellow poinciana flowers blooming on these trees that the green of the leaves is hardly visible.
Fallen yellow poinciana flowers form a brilliant golden carpet on the Le Loi school yard.
Trung Kien, a photographer from Ho Chi Minh City, was surprised to see the brilliant yellow poinciana flowers in early spring. Kien said he used to know the red and purple versions of the flower, but not the yellow one. "The best thing is that the whole tree is full of flowers without any leaves."
The yellow poinciana tree has an upright, branched trunk near the top. Each top has more than a dozen main flower branches, and each main branch has 6 to 8 sub-branches. Each sub-branch has 30 to 40 buds, forming a bunch of flowers.
According to the teachers of Le Loi School, the yellow poinciana flowers bloomed more evenly this year, attracting many tourists to take photos.
Many female students keep the yellow poinciana flowers in their notebooks to record this beautiful time of the year.
"This is the third school year we have witnessed the yellow poinciana flowers bloom," said an 8th-grade female student at Le Loi Secondary School. "We are all excited to take pictures of these trees."
In the midst of green tea hills in nearby Bao Loc Town, numerous yellow poinciana trees stand alone, posing a poetic scene and drawing tourists
