In a romantic setting filled with candlelight and flowers at a luxury Hanoi restaurant on Sunday night, Phat officially proposed to Nguyet.
Celebrating the moment on social media, Phat wrote: "Year-end mission completed."

Phat's proposal to Nguyet.
Phat, 27, followed an unconventional path to success.
The son of a former boxer, he initially tried to follow his father’s footstep before switching to badminton. He rose to fame in 2017 after winning the Pakistan International Series and made history in 2021 by dethroning the legendary Nguyen Tien Minh to become the national champion. After years on top, he’s currently the number two player in Vietnam after Nguyen Hai Dang.
Nguyet, 24, is the only Vietnamese female archer to qualify for two consecutive Olympics (Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024). Her trophy cabinet includes a gold medal from the 30th SEA Games and a bronze from the recent 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
The couple’s love story began at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Phat, who also served as Vietnam’s flag bearer, and Nguyet (L) were part of the elite 16-athlete delegation representing the country in 11 sports.
They officially announced their relationship in October 2024.
"At first glance, Nguyet seemed very strong and independent, sometimes even hard to get," Phat told VnExpress. "But as I get to know her, she is a warm and empathetic person. And I fell for her."
