Ba Son Station hugs Ton Duc Thang Street near the Saigon River in District 1. It spans 34 meters and is 17 meters underground. It includes a first-level ticket lounge and second-level train platform.

The station is near 84 percent complete. Tracks have been installed on the section from Ba Son Station to the Opera House Station.

Ba Son Station's design is based off the architecture of Ba Son Shipyard, with a white color theme and wave-like decorations reminiscent of the Saigon River.

"As Lunar New Year Festival nears, we are working our hardest to complete the station. The metro line's a big national project, and being a part of it makes me feel proud," said Tran Van Men, 32.

Metro Line 1, spanning 2.6 kilometers, has three underground stations: Ba Son, Opera House and Ben Thanh. Opera House Station, with four floors, is now over 90 percent complete. Ben Thanh Station, intended to connect with other metro line projects, is now 82 percent complete.

The line is HCMC's first urban railway project costing around VND43.7 trillion ($1.89 billion). The entire line spans 20 kilometers with 14 stations. The line is now 81 percent complete, and is expected to enter operation at the end of this year.
