Vietnam is expected to receive 22 million foreign visitors in 2026 and see tourism revenues grow by 25 percent from pre-pandemic levels to US$13.2 billion, Fitch Solutions forecast.

"It's a rosy outlook for a country that's heavily dependent on international travelers and their spending," the British market research company said in a report.

Vietnam reopened its borders to foreign tourists and lifted most Covid restrictions in March this year after over two years of closures.

In 2019 it had received a record 18 million foreign tourists.

Its target for this year is five million.

The government is considering issuing e-visas to nationals of more countries. It now issues 30-day single-entry visas online to people from 80 countries and territories, including Australia, India, the U.K., and the U.S.
