Thailand to reinstate Covid vaccination requirement for all travelers

Visitors continuing on from Thailand to a country where a negative RT-PCR test result need to have insurance, Bangkok Post reported.

Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul said, as cited by the newspaper, that the new restrictions are "necessary" because Thailand is a major destination for travelers from many countries including China, but did not spell out when they would take effect.

During their stay in Thailand, visitors will be advised to protect themselves by wearing face masks in public, regularly washing hands and getting antigen tests if they have any respiratory symptoms.

Thailand lifted all Covid restrictions last year, including tests and health insurance requirements as a further boost to its rapidly recovering tourism industry.

The country received 11 million foreign visitors last year, making it among the fastest to recover in Southeast Asia.

The Thai government is targeting 25 million foreign arrivals this year, including five million from China.
