The attack occurred on Sunday afternoon when the tourist was shot while resisting an armed robber riding a motorcycle, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but was later declared dead.
South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for a swift investigation by local police into the incident.
Angeles, a popular tourist destination located north of Manila in Central Luzon, has seen an increase in crimes targeting South Korean nationals in recent years, The Korea Times reported.
Last May, a South Korean man was killed in a pickpocketing incident, and in August, another South Korean was injured during an attack by two armed robbers.
The Philippines, which was named "Asia's Leading Beach Destination" at the 2024 World Travel Awards, recorded 1.65 million foreign arrivals in the first quarter of this year, a 0.51% decrease compared to the same period last year.
South Korea remains the largest source of inbound visitors, with 395,059 arrivals, according to the Department of Tourism.
