Two foreign travelers have been arrested in Singapore for allegedly stealing 10 perfume bottles worth more than S$2,600 (US$1,900) while transiting through Changi Airport.

According to the Singapore Police Force, the pair, both 22 years old, were detained in the airport's transit area on Nov. 25 after a retail outlet reported that a box of perfume valued at S$162 was missing.

Based on CCTV footage, police apprehended the suspects, whose nationality has not yet been disclosed, within 45 minutes before their scheduled flight departed from Singapore, The Straits Times reported.

Further investigations revealed that the duo had allegedly stolen nine additional perfume bottles worth more than S$2,500 from other outlets in the transit area on the same day.

The suspects will face charges of theft in a dwelling with common intention.

Under Singaporean law, anyone found guilty of theft in a dwelling can face a fine or imprisonment of up to seven years.
