The hotel situated in downtown Hoan Kiem Ward, is the oldest in the capital, dating back to 1901.
Over its history, the Metropole has played host to numerous guests, including heads of state, royalty, actors, writers, musicians, and business leaders.
Last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook stayed at the hotel during his two-day visit to the Vietnamese capital.
Mark Zuckerberg, then Facebook CEO, stayed at the hotel during a visit in 2011.
The hotel also hosted many world leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump, President Bill Clinton and France's President Francois Hollande.
The hotel's Heritage Wing comprises a total of 103 rooms, among which are three Legendary Suite rooms honoring famous British figures who graced the hotel in the early 20th century: the comedic icon Charlie Chaplin, the writer and playwright Somerset Maugham, and the novelist and journalist Graham Greene.
The Fodor's list was selected by experts from 765,000 hotels and resorts, to give suggestions to tourists planning to travel next year.
The magazine said it works with hundreds of experts across the globe from globetrotting writers to hotel professionals leaning on their expertise and personal experiences to help narrow the list.
Other representatives in Asia also featured on the list include Banyan Tree Krabi in Thailand, Camaya Bamboo Houses in Indonesia, The Dwarika’s in Nepal, Gangtey Lodge in Bhutan and Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree in Singapore.
