The countries have been chosen based on their popularity among travelers in 2018, with data collected from tours offered by the website and the search frequencies of website’s readers.

The website describes Vietnam’s popularity, saying the nation is "filled with beauty at every turn".

It also mentions various natural wonders in Vietnam, including jungle islands, their azure beaches, and Mekong Delta’s rice fields.

Son Doong cave is also named as part of the country’s remarkable landscape. The cave, located in the central province Quang Binh, is the world’s largest cave with great biological diversity.

In the capital city Hanoi, the website recommends the imperial citadel, the Hanoi Opera House and Temple of Literature as places to visit.

Another town to be discovered is Hoi An, home to lantern festivals and savory dishes like shrimp dumplings and its version of banh mi, the website says.

Banh mi, a kind of sandwich that consists of a Vietnamese single-serving baguette filled with various savory ingredients, is one of Vietnam's iconic street dishes.

Vietnam welcomed 15 million foreign visitors in the year to December 20. This exceeds last year’s 14 million, setting a new record for the country’s tourism industry.

A 2018 global report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization ranked Vietnam’s tourism growth as the fourth highest in the world.
