Vietnam expected to rise to top 5 destinations for Russian tourists

Vietnam is forecast to climb to the third place among the top five destinations attracting Russian tourists in the upcoming 2025/26 winter season, according to Taras Kobishchanov, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

Speaking to journalists at the annual "Trevolution" conference, Kobishchanov, also Director General of Russian Express Holding, forecast that Egypt will continue to dominate the outbound tourism market in terms of tour sales this winter.

Thailand is expected to retain its second place, though it will face strong competition from Vietnam amid signs of slowing growth.

Vietnam's appeal has been bolstered by the introduction and expansion of charter flights, which have significantly increased visitor numbers.

Kobishchanov noted that 10–12% of travellers who might otherwise have chosen Thailand are expected to opt for Vietnam this season.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Dubai as its main draw, is projected to place fourth in group tour sales, close behind Vietnam.

China is also forecast to enter the top five destinations for Russian package tourists this winter, aided by its visa-free policy.
