"The fruits of our labor have not only been recognized but rewarded with this award, which will also spur us on to constantly strive to make Sun World Fansipan Legend the country's leading tourism attraction," Nguyen Xuan Chien, director of Sun World Fansipan Legend, said at a WTA gala ceremony held on Phu Quoc Island.

Visitors to Sun World Fansipan Legend in Sa Pa Town of Lao Cai Province have many unique vantage points to admire the pristine forests on the Hoang Lien mountain range, the poetic purity of Muong Hoa Valley, and the awe-inspiring heights all around - especially Mount Fansipan, the ‘rooftop of Indochina’.

Developed by Sun Group, Sun World Fansipan Legend opened its doors in 2016, and has transformed Sa Pa in just a few years from a sleepy backwater into one of Vietnam’s premier tourism destinations.

Within the complex, visitors can immerse themselves in the cultures of the northwestern mountains by attending traditional festivals and discovering all about the many hill tribes who have lived in the ‘City in the clouds’ for centuries.

The funicular ride thrills people of all ages as it trundles through mysterious tunnels, crosses a viaduct and offers passengers panoramic views of the beautiful landscapes at an altitude of 1,600 meters.

From the walkway to the cable car station, visitors can appreciate the splendor of gardens of blooming flowers on the hills.

From Sa Pa, the Muong Hoa funicular railway is a wonderful way to travel to the Fansipan cable car station.

The Sun World Fansipan Legend cable car will give passengers an out-of-this-world experience as it climbs toward the top of Fansipan. The views are breathtaking as passengers can see golden rice terraces and tiny villages down below.

At the top of Fansipan, a complex of spiritual buildings and shrines showcase the ancient beauty of Vietnamese architecture and the country's spiritual beliefs.

When visitors reach the top of Fansipan, they will be standing at a height of 3,143 meters above sea level.

Besides its attraction as a tourism destination, Sun World Fansipan Legend is also a symbol of Vietnam's dynamic rise. The Sun Group’s project, and especially the cable car, is the result of an extraordinary engineering effort considering the rugged terrain along the slopes of Fansipan.

Since its opening, the number of tourists in Lao Cai Province has risen spectacularly.

In 2013 tourist arrivals in Lao Cai numbered 1.2 million; in just the first half of 2019 there were more than 2.9 million visitors, who spent around VND11.25 trillion ($485 million).

That represented an increase of 50 percent over the same period in 2018 and 443 percent from full-year 2013, when Sun Group had just broken ground for the project.

The number of visitors to Sa Pa that year was only 720,000, and revenues from tourism was a mere VND576 billion ($24.8 million). They rose to 2.7 million and VND3.9 trillion ($168 millio in 2018 respectively. In the first half of 2019 they were 1.65 million and VND5.2 trillion ($224 million).
