Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai celebrated his belated 28th birthday with family and close friends at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, one of Vietnam's most expensive hotels, on Sunday.

Hai's actual birthday was on Saturday, when he had a game with Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) at the V-League where they beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-1. The club presented a cake right after the game to celebrate Hai and his teammates born in April.

At the Sunday party, Hai wore an LV T-shirt valued at over VND30 million (US$1,163) and a large necklace with an H-shaped pendant. His wife, Chu Thanh Huyen, donned a cream-colored mid-thigh dress.

In addition to family, they invited a few close friends to join in the celebration.

Hai is one of Vietnam's best midfielders. He first rose to stardom with a stellar performance at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, where Vietnam finished as runners-up. He later became a key player for the national team. With them he won the 2019 SEA Games gold medal and 2018 AFF Cup. He also helped the squad advance to the final qualifiers of the 2022 World Cup for the first time in the country's history.

Founded in 1901, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is one of the few hotels in the capital showcasing French architectural style, earning numerous travel awards in recent years.

Located in Hoan Kiem District, it is the oldest hotel in Hanoi, with a rich history spanning over a century.
