Singapore was the only Asian city to appear in a list of 10 best cities for global retirees, thanks to its diverse hotels and quality of healthcare services.

To compile the list, British travel insurance company PayingTooMuch analyzed 45 cities based on criteria such as the number of hotels rated three stars and above, hotel costs, tour availability, healthcare quality, and the number of activities and walking tours available in each city.

Melbourne topped the list, followed by Sydney, Amsterdam and Berlin.

The rest of the top 10 were Brisbane, Helsinki, Oslo and Munich.

The report revealed that retirees would need an average of S$2,600 (US$1,900) per day to stay in Singapore for a week in a hotel of three stars or up.

The city-state has over 300 hotels rated three stars and above and around 185 walking tours.

Singapore is also highly praised for its quality of healthcare access.
