The sign written in simplified Chinese claimed that the decision was made because "many are rude," according to the South China Morning Post.

A photo shared on X shows a notice in front of a restaurant's door in Japan's Osaka saying Chinese customers are not welcome. |
While some netizens have supported the restaurant's decision, others have expressed disappointment and anger at the discriminatory attitude, NDTV reported.
"Great decision," one netizen wrote.
In contrast, another responded, "A restaurant that posts such a note has even worse manners than the rude customers."
One user added, "There must be an explanation."
This incident is not the first of its kind.
Last year, a restaurant in Tokyo drew criticism after announcing on social media that it had banned Chinese and South Korean customers.
Japan welcomed a record 36.9 million international visitors in 2024, a 47.1% increase from the previous year. The highest number of arrivals came from South Korea, followed by China.
