Retired Hong Kong actress Chingmy Yau recently took her two daughters on a trip to the historic city Xi'an, one of the most popular tourist destinations in mainland China.

Yau shared several photos from the trip on Instagram on Wednesday, highlighting their visits to popular attractions like the Terracotta Warriors and Huaqing Palace.

In one photo, the trio posed in front of the iconic Bell Tower, built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty and one of the grandest of its kind in China, Hong Kong's 163 website reported.

Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, was China's capital for 13 dynasties and is renowned as the birthplace of Chinese civilization. It is also the starting point of the legendary Silk Road, which connected trade and culture between Asia and Europe.

The ancient city is famous for its rich history and is home to cultural landmarks such as The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, and Datang Furong Park.

Yau, 57, entered the entertainment industry after competing in the 1987 Miss Hong Kong pageant. She became one of Hong Kong's leading actresses in the late 1980s and early 1990s, alongside stars like Maggie Cheung, Brigitte Lin, and Cheung Man.

Throughout her career, Yau was nominated for four Hong Kong Film Awards. She retired from acting in 1999 following her marriage to Sham Kar Wai, a Hong Kong fashion designer and founder of the fashion company I.T. Since then, she has been involved in her husband's business.
