Death-defying experience: Sitting on bed 1,600 m up cliffside in China
A photo shared on Xiaohongshu shows a visitor sits on a cliffside bed in China.
The Wuzhifeng Scenic Area in Hunan Province has recently gained popularity for its cliffside bed but adventure seekers need to meet stringent health requirements to ensure safety.

The management board of the area offers special beds nailed to the sides of Wuzhifeng's granite cliffs 1,600 m above the ground.

To be allowed to try them, people must be at least 1.4 m tall, weigh no more than 100 kg, have a waistline no larger than 100 cm, wear a safety harness, and obey instructions from staff.

But the activity is temporarily stopped when there is rain, snow or strong winds.

It was trialed from April 10 and officially made available on April 28, and over 400 thrill-seekers have tried it so far.

Visitors can buy tickets directly at the counter.

On online travel booking platforms, the "cliffside bed" experience is included in the "Cliff Coffee - Via Ferrata" service package, and is priced at 98 yuan (US$13.63).

The experience lasts about 40 minutes, and the price includes a cup of coffee, specialized safety equipment, professional instructors, insurance, and a certificate.

Participants must be between 14 and 60 years of age, and not have cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure or other ailments.

It is available only between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and there is no overnight accommodation.
