A tree that stands on its own is a picture of both loneliness and solitude. A Vietnamese photographer captures both.

Photographer Cao Ky Nhan is a native of Phu Yen Province, 582 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. He lives and works in Saigon. Nhan travels across the country to take pictures. In this picture, a boatman who makes ends meet by ferrying people is caught in a meditative moment enhanced by his proximity to a solitary tree in the Tram Chim swamp, the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.

Nhan identifies himself as an adventurous person who is fond of landscape photography and exploring nature. This photo shows another lonely tree in Tan Thanh beach area, Tien Giang Province, Mekong Delta. The snap is very popular in the photography circle in Vietnam.

"Creativity, new and unique content" is Nhan’s standard when he focuses on a certain subject. Another shot of a tree stands in the background of Ho Chi Minh City that overlooks District 2.

Through this collection, he wants to introduce a story with images of trees standing companionless in nature to show the loneliness and isolation many feel in life.

The photo shows a fisherman rowing past a tree on Tuyen Lam lake in the early morning dew. This is the largest freshwater lake in the Central Highlands town of Da Lat, with many small oases and surrounded by pine forests.

Nhan said Phu Yen has many stunning landscapes, which inspire him as a lensman. Tourist destinations in Phu Yen include Bai Mon - Mui Dien, O Loan lagoon or Hinh River hydroelectric lake. The picture shows a glimpse of a lake in Song Hinh District.

"If you come to the land of yellow flowers and green grass (as how he refers to Phu Yen), you will be surprised because in real life, Phu Yen landscape is even more beautiful than on film," Nhan said.

In the picture stands a wild almond tree in Song Hinh District. Their leaves are yellow fan-shaped, flowers are red.
