Pham Xuan, a passenger from Ho Chi Minh City onboard the jet, said the trip was part of a specially curated tour package for high-end travelers.
Xuan praised the jet’s lavish amenities, which include a bed, kitchen, bar, entertainment-equipped sofa, and a living room that meet five- to six-star standards.
As part of their itinerary, the group will visit the tomb of King Gia Long, the founder of the Nguyen Dynasty—Vietnam’s last ruling royal family (1802-1945)—along with other royal tombs and the UNESCO-listed Hue Imperial City.
"As a Hue native, I hope more elite travelers from Europe and around the world, especially billionaires, will visit the city on private jets," Xuan said.
A representative of Phu Bai Airport said while the airport has welcomed private jets before, this was the first time it hosted the "super jet" G650ER.
The Gulfstream G650ER is renowned as the fastest and longest-range private jet, capable of circumnavigating the globe with just one stop. Gulfstream is widely regarded as the leading brand in the luxury aviation industry.
In March 2024, American tech billionaire Bill Gates visited Da Nang on a four-day trip with his girlfriend aboard a Gulfstream G650ER. Gates owns six private jets, including two Gulfstream business jets, which can accommodate up to 17 seated passengers or 6-8 lying passengers.
Other billionaires and global celebrities who own Gulfstream jets include Jeff Bezos, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi.
