TUI Airways is planning flights from South Korea, while Jetstar Australia is looking to operate a new route from Newcastle, Australia, according to Yulia, Assistant Deputy for Foreign Tourism Marketing II at the ministry, as reported by Antara News Agency.
Another airline is reportedly exploring a direct connection from Sichuan, China, to Bali.
Yulia did not specify when these routes would begin operating.
She noted that if the plans materialize, they could help the country meet its target of attracting 14-16 million foreign tourist arrivals this year.
As of June 2025, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is served by 52 airlines, including 47 international carriers.
Bali was named Asia's most beautiful island in this year's annual Reader's Choice Awards by DestinAsian magazine. In October last year, the island received the same recognition from readers of Condé Nast Traveler in its Readers' Choice Awards.
In 2024, Bali welcomed 6.3 million foreign visitors, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. This year, the island aims to attract 6.5 million tourists.
To address growing concerns over tourist misbehavior and improve its image, Bali has recently introduced new guidelines for foreign visitors.
