Over 70 global airlines, travel agencies, and online platforms recently participated in the "Journey to Your True Paradise" famtrip program in Phu Quoc, further highlighting the island's growing reputation as a sought-after travel destination.

The famtrip from Dec. 4-6 welcomed more than 70 representatives from leading travel agencies from leading global travel agencies like Hanatour, Crystal Bay, Pegas Touristik, Anex, Inventum, Selfie, Hoang Tra..., along with major airlines such as Starlux, SCAT, Vietnam Airlines, and Thai Vietjet, as well as renowned online travel platforms like KKday, Trip.com, and Klook.

During their 3-day visit, the delegation explored the Sun Paradise Land ecosystem in South Phu Quoc, a complex of entertainment, leisure, and luxury resorts offering a range of tourism experiences. The participants noted the distinctive nature of these attractions, which they found difficult to compare to those in other destinations.

Among the highlights were Sunset Town, the Kiss Bridge, the world's longest 3-wire cable car to Hon Thom Island, Vietnam's first beachfront night market (VUI-Fest Bazaar), and cultural performances like the multimedia show "Kiss of the Sea", the fireworks-accompanied "Symphony of the Sea", and the traditional Vietnamese Puppet Show. Each evening concluded with 2 fireworks displays that left participants impressed.

Phu Quoc's luxury accommodations, including La Festa Phu Quoc - Curio Collection by Hilton, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, and Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, along with the scenic Eschuri Vung Bau golf course, further demonstrated the island's high-end offerings.

Mehmet Kin, Vice President of Crystal Bay Group, remarked, "While destinations like Phuket and Pattaya were once the go-to places, I believe Phu Quoc offers a new level of appeal. The infrastructure here is well-developed, the facilities are modern, the services are top-notch, and the warmth of the locals stands out."

Hong Jung Min, General Manager of Hanatour Vietnam, one of South Korea's leading travel agencies, highlighted Phu Quoc's growth potential: "With the completion of infrastructure and more attractions, Phu Quoc is shaping up to become a true 'Hawaii of the East.'"

As part of the famtrip, a seminar titled "An Emerging Travel Destinations in the New Era" provided an opportunity to discuss Phu Quoc's potential for future growth.

During the seminar, Nguyen Vu Quynh Anh, CEO of Sun Hospitality Group, outlined Sun Group's plans for Phu Quoc, including the development of Rixos Phu Quoc—the first all-inclusive resort in Southeast Asia—along with other key projects such as Aspira Tower, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and The Luxury Collection on Hon Thom Island. Additionally, projects like the Sun Hospital and a beachfront square in Bai Dat Do aim to transform the island into a multi-faceted destination, encouraging longer stays and attracting both domestic and international tourists.

Alivia Gracianti, Vice President Sales of Ennismore Asia-Pacific, expressed optimism about the island's prospects: "Phu Quoc has great potential, with many untapped international markets that could contribute to its success."

Starlux Airlines announced plans to increase charter flights to Phu Quoc in January, noting, "Phu Quoc is becoming a popular destination for Taiwanese tourists, and we're focusing more resources on this market."

Weichun Liu, CEO of KKday, shared her impressions: "When I first visited Phu Quoc in 2022, I was particularly impressed by the cable car project. This time, I see not just infrastructure and hotels, but also vibrant shows, night markets, and a well-connected ecosystem. Phu Quoc is certainly emerging as a top global destination."

Looking ahead, Phu Quoc is expected to welcome nearly 6 million visitors in 2024, with 1 million of them being international tourists—a 73.4% increase from the previous year, exceeding the annual target by 44.4%. By the end of November 2024, over 4,000 international flights will have landed on the island, a 175% increase compared to the previous year.

Liu emphasized Phu Quoc's broad appeal: "The island caters to various types of travelers, from budget-conscious young tourists to families and luxury visitors. It's a destination that people can return to for different experiences at different stages of life."
