Man strips on Vietnam flight to Thailand, attempts to jump off plane

On an AirAsia flight on Jan. 30 leaving Cam Ranh International Airport for Don Mueang International Airport, a passenger, who appeared to be speaking English and Russian, performed strange behavior soon after take-off.

The man reportedly spoke with another man on board before his behavior became unusual, according to the Daily Mail.

He was constantly going to the toilet and being agitated. He then argued with a flight attendant, stating that he needed to get off the plane.

Passengers tried to calm him down, but he began shouting and trying to pick a fight with the flight attendants. In the end, the man stripped down to his underwear and ran around the cabin, trying to get off the plane.

As the flight captain performed an emergency landing at Don Mueang, the man jumped down as soon as the aircraft door was opened, even before the stair truck arrived.

He injured himself in the leg as he tried to escape, but was captured by authorities.

AirAsia has not issued an official comment on the extent of the damage and additional costs arising from the emergency landing.

However, under international aviation regulations, disruptive passengers like this may face heavy financial penalties, even permanent flight bans and criminal charges depending on the severity of the threat to aviation security.

Last February, a comparable case occurred on a flight from Khabarovsk, Russia, to Phuket, Thailand.

A passenger consumed alcohol before removing her trousers and underwear during the flight.

Passengers said she attempted to engage in inappropriate behavior with nearby seatmates.

She later lost consciousness, and flight attendants ensured she remained seated for the rest of the journey.
