Vietnam's banh mi and pho noodle soup have been recognized among the top 100 street foods in the world by international food magazine TasteAtlas.

The ranking, updated last month, was based on more than 82,000 user ratings, with around 53,000 recognized as legitimate.

Landing at number 10, banh mi is a sandwich that blends French and local influences. It features a baguette filled with meat, pate, pickled vegetables, and herbs.

Two other varieties also made the list: the meat and cold cuts banh mi at number 37, made with roasted pork, pork belly, pork sausage, and pate; and the roasted pork belly banh mi at number 48, featuring crispy pork.

The other Vietnamese star on the list is pho, which appeared twice. Beef pho ranked number 31, known for its broth simmered from beef bones and seasoned with cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom. The soup is served with noodles and topped with slices of beef and herbs.

The traditional pho version came in at number 51, described by TasteAtlas as "Vietnam’s comfort food and a way of life". Northern pho is clear and mild, while southern pho is fuller and served with more herbs.

This year’s top spot went to Lanzhou lamian from China, a noodle soup known for its hand-pulled noodles and beef broth. It was followed by guotie, pan-fried Chinese dumplings filled with pork and cabbage, and birria tacos from Mexico, tortillas stuffed with slow-cooked beef and cheese.
