A new durian-flavored Pocky snack, now available at Asian stores, has stirred debate among food enthusiasts—some praising its unique taste, others calling it overwhelming.

According to supermarket chain FairPrice's website, a bundle of 10 boxes (25g each) is priced at S$13.90 (US$10.7) in Singapore, The Straits Times reported.

The unconventional flavor has sparked mixed reactions

While some snackers admitted its taste is quite great, others have expressed strong aversion.

"It's not too sweet, and it really tastes like durian," one user commented.

Another added, "They are great. I wish I'd bought more.'

But some people were not fond of the new version.

A Redditor, who admitted never having tried real durian, said the snack had a "cheesy" flavor with a "garlic" aftertaste.

"Does this actually taste like durian or is it that weird, garlic-y sweetness of the Thai durian-flavored snacks?" a netizen questioned.

"Strawberry pocky is the best!" another added.

Durian, often referred to as the "king of fruits," is primarily grown in tropical countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Known for its large size, spiky rind, and pungent odor, the fruit is banned from public transport, hotels, and enclosed spaces in many Asian countries due to its strong smell.

Durian's distinct and pungent smell often leads to it being disliked by many, despite being considered the "king of fruits". The strong aroma is a major factor in its polarizing reputation.
