Two Michelin-starred restaurants in Singapore have shut down this month, adding to a growing list of high-end restaurants that have closed in the country this year.

Euphoria Restaurant, which retained its one Michelin star in the latest Singapore Michelin Guide, closed on Aug. 2.

Known for its French-inspired "gastro-botanica" cuisine, Euphoria was led by Singaporean chef-owner Jason Tan.

He told Business Times that while business had been slow, the closure was due to personal reasons.

Tan added that he had been considering shutting the restaurant for about a year, The Straits Times reported.

Following Euphoria's exit, another one-Michelin-starred restaurant, Alma by Juan Amador, announced it ended operations at Goodwood Park Hotel on Aug. 15.

In this year's Singapore Michelin Guide, eight one-star restaurants were dropped due to closures. With Alma and Euphoria shutting their doors, the total now stands at 10, the first time Michelin-related closures in Singapore have reached double digits.

Singapore's renowned food scene has faced a wave of closures over the past year.

Rising operational costs and reduced consumer spending have driven the trend, Reuters reported.

Government data shows food and beverage closures averaged 307 per month in 2025, compared to 254 in 2024 and about 230 in both 2023 and 2022.
