Le Tu Gia Thanh, chairman of Hai Chau District, said that authorities had asked over 500 businesses such as eateries and coffee shops to open up their bathrooms as part of the Comfort As Home program and 288 agreed.
Businesses that volunteer to join will have a Comfort As Home sign on the front.
Tourists and local residents can use these restrooms for free, and can also download a smartphone app to find a nearby restroom.
On roads with lots of traffic, authorities have installed larger signs to give people directions and also allow companies to display their advertisements for free.

The Comfort As Home program initially began in 2015 but was disrupted in recent years. Hai Chau only has eight public restrooms.
In March, another district in Da Nang, Son Tra, invited 50 businesses to join a similar program.
