Malaysia, voted Asia's most loved country, expects to welcome 1.5 million Indian tourists in 2025, a 50% increase from last year, thanks its relaxed visa policy.

The country aims to attract two million tourists from India, the world's most populous nation, by 2026, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, director-general of Tourism Malaysia, said as cited by United News of India.

Malaysia recently extended its visa exemption for Indian nationals until Dec. 31, 2026.

Recognized as Asia's most loved country in 2024 by the American finance website Insider Monkey, Malaysia is one of only two Southeast Asian countries offering visa-free entry to Indian tourists, alongside Thailand.

In 2024, it welcomed a record 1.1 million Indian tourists, surpassing the pre-pandemic figure of 735,000 recorded in 2019.
