The cave is located in Ngan Thuy Commune, Le Thuy District.

It is named after General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2013), Vietnam’s legendary military leader who led the Vietnam People’s Army to victory against the French and the Americans.

From 1971 to 1973, Vo Nguyen Giap stayed in this cave to command military campaigns in southern Vietnam.

This cave has a system of stalactites which look like gold, since they contain a large quantity of silic. The cave contains many other stalactite systems and small lakes.

The area has many caves associated with the history of Quang Binh Province. A cultural cave, weapon cave and military cave are part of a cave complex used by Ngan Thuy Commune during the Vietnam War.

The Vo Nguyen Giap cave is 40 kilometers to the southwest of Dong Hoi town, the center of Quang Binh Province. It can be visited as part of a day tour or a two-days, one-night tour.

Quang Binh, often known as the kingdom of caves, is also home to the world’s largest cave, Son Doong.

The province welcomed 3.9 million visitors in the year to December 5, an increase of 18 percent over the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
