China dominated the list, with Peking University ranking second and five other Chinese institutions also appearing in the global top 10.
Carnegie Mellon University in the U.S. ranked third, while Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University placed eighth.
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology rounded out the top 10.
CSRankings said its assessment is entirely metrics-based, evaluating departments by their research output in leading computer science and artificial intelligence publication venues.
It does not rely on reputation surveys of department heads or graduate program directors, unlike other rankings such as the U.S. News & World Report.
Beyond the top 10, Asia continued to dominate positions 11 through 20, with six universities represented, compared with four from the U.S.
Singapore added another entry in this range, with the National University of Singapore ranking 11th, making it the only Southeast Asian country with two institutions in the global top 20.
