"I mean my family, like, we’re so nerdy, so I knew nothing about music," Phoebe, 22, shared during an April 30 appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast hosted by Alex Cooper. "Like I knew about tech stuff growing up, not music stuff."
She went on to recall a lighthearted moment from the early days of her relationship with Arthur, 26, when he was "excited" because he thought he could impress her with his industry connections.

Phoebe also shared a humorous memory from a concert by another music icon they attended together. "He took me to an Elton John concert and Elton John comes out in like a bedazzled tracksuit," she said. "I’m like, ‘Is Elton John gay?’ His entire family starts dying laughing, and now we’ve been dating almost two years. Every time I see them, they’re like, ‘Oh, is Elton John gay?’"
Although Arthur is connected to one of the most influential musicians in history, Phoebe noted that he "does not have any musical talent" himself. "I’ve been trying to get him to serenade me for a very long time, but it has not happened," she joked.
The couple first sparked dating rumors in October 2023 when they were spotted together on a European vacation, as reported by entertainment site Us Weekly. Phoebe later confirmed the relationship in a blog post for Nylon, a lifestyle magazine, referring to Arthur as her "boyfriend."
While the couple generally keeps their relationship private, Phoebe occasionally shares glimpses of their life together on Instagram and mentions him in interviews.
Despite his connection to the Beatles legacy, Arthur has largely kept a low profile. He attended University College School in North London, where the annual tuition is reported to be £31,000 (US$41,339), before studying history at Yale University, according to the Daily Mail. After graduating in 2021, he worked as an analyst at Beehouse and Goldman Sachs, before joining U.S. investment firm Iconiq Capital in San Francisco.
Phoebe is the youngest of three children born to Bill and Melinda Gates, who divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage. After graduating early from Stanford University with a degree in human biology, she co-founded Phia, an AI-powered shopping app, with her former college roommate and activist Sophia Kianni.
