Kristin Cabot, chief people officer at U.S. tech firm Astronomer, has resigned following a viral video of her embracing the company's then-CEO, Andy Byron, during a Coldplay concert.

Her resignation on Thursday came days after Byron stepped down on July 19, as reported by Business Insider.

The two drew widespread attention last Wednesday after they were seen canoodling at a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.

Caught on the venue’s "kiss cam," the pair looked stunned and terrified when they saw themselves on the big screen. Byron quickly ducked out of view while Cabot covered her face, according to Forbes.

"Uh-oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," Coldplay’s Chris Martin quipped from the stage.

Internet sleuths took just hours to identify the pair. The video, which has racked up millions of views on TikTok and other platforms, sparked a flurry of memes, some mocking the idea of having an affair at a Coldplay concert, others calling out the irony of an HR executive seemingly involved in a workplace romance. It also sparked debates about privacy in the era of smartphones, social media, and constant surveillance.

Astronomer, a private data infrastructure startup that reached unicorn status in 2022 with a valuation of at least US$1 billion, recently moved its headquarters to New York City as part of its expansion strategy.

Byron was appointed CEO in July 2023, and Cabot took on the role of HR chief in November 2024. Posts referencing their roles have since been removed from their LinkedIn profiles.

The company said in a social media statement on July 18 that it had started a formal investigation, though it did not mention the concert or the people involved.

"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability," Astronomer said, as quoted by The Straits Times.

"The board of directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly."
