Y2K, which stands for Year 2000, is a term referring to a computer glitch and bug identified in some software systems that had problems when dealing with dates beyond Dec. 31, 1999.
In fashion, Y2K was inspired by the mid-1990s and early 2000s styles when the internet became more popular, during the dot-com boom. The fashion trend is a mix of the new and the old, influenced by technological advancements, combining futuristic with a slightly retro edge.
Shiny materials, chunky sneakers, pleated skirts, colorful sunglasses, crop tops, cardigans, large hair clips... are signature Y2K items.
