Ly Hoang Nam has advanced to the semifinals of Egypt’s M15 Sharm El Sheikh after beating a French opponent Friday.

Nam, 781st in world rankings, played France’s Nathan Seateun (741st). Despite being 40 places lower than Seateun, Nam started the game confidently and won 6-2 in the first set.

In the second, Seateun attempted a comeback when he leveled 2-2, but the Vietnamese ace didn’t give him a chance. Nam continued to dominate and won the set 6-2, wrapping up the game.

Before defeating Seateun, Nam had beaten two Italian players.

Advancing to the semifinals helped Nam accumulate four more points toward his world ranking, with the chance of scoring six should he makes it to the final. However, Nam will face a challenge in the semifinals when facing number one seed Marek Gengel of the Czech Republic (442nd in world rankings).

According to plan, Nam will stay in Egypt to compete in multiple M15 tournaments from October to November.
