Tran Hong Phuc, a Starcraft pro nicknamed MeomaikA, won the World Electronic Sports Games Southeast Asia (WESG SEA) in Malaysia Sunday.

The Vietnamese player snatched a 3-1 victory against Caviar Napoleon Marquises-Acampado, a Filipino player nicknamed EnDerr, in the WESG 2019 SEA Finals.

MeomaikA was overwhelmed by EnDerr's preemptive playing style and lost the first round.

But the Vietnamese player picked his main "champion," Zerg, and defeated EnDerr in the next three consecutive matches, wining 3-1.

With this victory, MeomaikA has earned a ticket to the WESG Grand Finals next year in China's Chongqing City.

Phuc is also one of Vietnam's e-sports players to compete at the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines.

WESG is an international e-sports tournament founded by Alisports Group, a company affiliated with the Shanghai-based Alibaba Group.

This year, 38 teams from all 10 official ASEAN member nations will compete in Global Offensive, Counter Strike: Women’s Global Offensive, Dota 2 and Starcraft 2. The tournament has a total prize money of $105,000.
