Two individuals and a team will represent Vietnam in the regional rounds of the 12th edition of the Esports World Championship in October.

The event will feature three games - football simulation video game Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), 1:1 fighting game Tekken 7 and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game Dota 2.

Le Doan Thanh Tam, nicknamed Tam Figo, and Pham Quoc Minh, nicknamed Minhler, will represent the country in PES and Tekken 7, while 496 Gaming esport team will compete in Dota 2.

The International Esports Federation and other organizers will hold 10 regional tournaments online from October 20 to November 20 to narrow down the top 16 PES and Tekken 7 players and 10 Dota teams from 55 nations for the 2020 World Championship Global Finals in Eilat, Israel, from December 6 to 12.

The 2019 championship was held in Seoul, South Korea.

There, Japan finished eighth in the Dota 2 tournament but still won the championship by winning the most medals after finishing second in both e-football PES 2020 and Tekken 7.
