The Vietnamese futsal team snatched a 7-3 victory against Myanmar at the Southeast Asia championship Sunday, winning a ticket to the 2020 Asian tournament.

Vietnam bagged bronze medal at the Futsal HDBank Championship Southeast Asia 2019 after winning the third-place play-off against Myanmar in Phu Tho Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the first half, Tran Thai Huy scored two goals for the home team in the sixth and seventh minutes, forcing their opponents to focus more on their offense.

In the ninth minute, Myanmar's Naing Ye Kyaw reduced the score gap to 2-1. The score was evened out in the 16th minute by Kyaw Soe Moe due to a lack of coordination between goalkeeper Ho Van Y and Nguyen Minh Tri.

Myanmar put pressure on Vietnamese goal after being given a penalty kick, but Y was able to block the attack. The first half ended 2-2.

After the break, coach Miguel Rodrigo made some rearrangement that helped Vietnam dominate the game in the second half.

Nhan Gia Hung raised the score to 3-2 at the 26th minute before Tran Quang Vu's penalty kick in the 32th minute brought it to 4-2.

In the last 10 minutes of the 40-minute game, Myanmar's Naing Ye Kyaw was able to snatch another goal. But Vietnam scored three more thanks to Pham Duc Hoa, Vu and Tri.

By finishing among the top three teams of the Southeast Asian tournament, Vietnam will advance to the 16th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship, which will be held in Turkmenistan from February 24 to March 10 with a total of 16 teams. Southeast Asian champions Thailand and runners-up Indonesia will also join the Asian tournament.
